Being home to America’s first commercial pretzel bakery, (established in 1861 in Lititz, PA), pretzels are pretty much their own food group here in Lancaster. Our County is home to a number of family-owned and even national pretzel bakeries. While some of you may think a pretzel is a pretzel, we know there are a lot of factors that go into pretzel preferences: hard & crunchy verses soft, salty verse low-salt, light and buttery verse extra dark. There are even dessert varieties such as cinnamon and sugar or chocolate-covered pretzels. While we you are in town be sure to try several different kinds so you can develop your own pretzel palate.
